Our Vision and Values
Here at Downsbrook, our Vision and Values are at the core of everything that we do. They underpin our approaches to teaching and learning as well as pastoral care and support us in developing an environment that prioritises social and emotional well-being in order to secure the very best outcomes from every child. Our school values are deeply rooted in the provision of an inclusive approach to education.
Simply put, our vision is to provide
“Educational excellence delivered for everyone, everyday, through: equality, engagement and empowerment”.
To achieve this, we believe in:

All members of our school community are of equal value.
We;

- believe that it is in our diversity that we find our strength.
- promote positive attitudes and mutual respect between all communities.
- strive for equality of opportunity for all children.
- Ensure that our provision makes a difference for all children.
- believe in equity, we strive to remove barriers to learning so that our children experience equal access to high quality teaching and learning and all aspects of school life.
Engagement – A voice for all.
Our school works best when everyone contributes.
We;
- ensure that all members of our school community are ‘present’.
- model a genuine interest in the lives of all children.
- value high levels of creativity, talk and innovation in our practice.
- deliver an inspiring, exciting and well-rounded curriculum that enthuses learners.

- value parents as partners and working together to achieve the best outcomes for every child.
Empowerment - Rights, responsibility and respect for all.
We passionately support our children to develop the confidence and vocal tools to enable them to speak up and be heard.
We;
- empower all members of our school community to develop independence.
- teach children about the balance between rights and responsibilities.
- support everyone in making choices, developing ideas and taking risks.
- support and encourage each other to take responsibility, make a difference and to be accountable for our choices and actions.
